Are You Planning a Rebrand?

It happens that, from time-to-time, business owners have a rebrand of their business. For the uninitiated this process involves new logos, business cards, websites and all such things. All the ephemera you can imagine that goes hand-in-hand with marketing a business in fact. If you’re planning a rebrand STOP-RIGHT-THERE. and read this first.

Aligning your business brand with your personal brand

Many, though by no means all, of my clients are business owners. It’s not uncommon for them to come to me when they’re planning a business rebrand and need to select a cohesive colour theme for their new logo, website and marketing.  But, before they do any of that, they come to me for an online colour analysis and style session to ascertain their WOW colours. Then they use their personal colours to inform their brand colours to have them both in perfect alignment. You know it makes sense!

This blog by Karen Haller on getting your business branding in alignment makes some interesting points. As she points out, all business owners want their brand to give the right impression. After all, as she says, when we pick up a business card or a brochure the first thing our brain takes in is the colours we see. We’ll have either a positive or negative psychological reaction to the colour combinations before us. And the chances are it’s entirely subconscious. Then, without knowing it, we compare those feelings to the images we see and the words we read.

Seeking harmony

We humans are programmed to look for harmony and cohesion. Although we may not know why, we know at once when something isn’t right, when something has a misalignment. On the opposite side of that coin, when someone sees you dressed in your WOW colours they’ll know you look amazing in a way the extends beyond the style of what you’re wearing. But they won’t know why. But the WHY lies in your wearing the perfect colours for your skin tone.

So how do you make the right colour choices for your business brand? How do you ensure that personal colour signals harmonise with all the visual elements of your brand? By having a styling session with me of course! And yes of course such a thing is about fashion and fun. I’m not going to pretend otherwise. But I trust you can see that it’s also a smart business decision if you carry through what you learn on the styling session to all your business branding.

So, if you’re using the ongoing Covid-19 situation to plan a rebrand, then it does make sense to make an online colour analysis and styling session an integral part of your planning. In particular if your rebranding process will include professional photographs.

If you’d like to book a session, email me at I’d love to become part of your business journey.
